Playing the Piano or Keyboards for the First Time or Again Is Easy as Do-Re-Me

You probably know those words. If you grew up in New York area in the 1970s and you listened to WABC or WNBC, that song was definitely in high rotation. Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” was a big hit – it rose to number-25 on the Hot 100 and number-four on the Adult Contemporary chart. 

Did you ever want to play that song on the piano? Did you think maybe your child might develop the ability to play something catchy and complex like that? 

It’s one of the big “hmmm” questions that the staff at Piero’s Music considers every day. Children or adults returning to the idea of playing the piano come into our store on Broadway in Bayonne with that same question in their minds. Whether it’s Papa John or daughter Jane, something sparked that inspiration for them to learn to play music. 

The truth is that there is no better instrument to begin learning on than the piano. True, it may be the most difficult instrument, but the piano spans everything about music. You can’t help but learn theory, time, rhythm, whole and half steps, and even ideas about composition. There is a universe that opens up as your fingers glide over the white and black keys.
